Waipukurau School

About Waipukurau School

Waipukurau School was established in 1867 on the site where the Hall sits at present. Over the years the buildings have changed with two big variable teaching blocks replacing the old brick building in 1974. The Hall was built in 1999.

We cater for students from 5 – 13 years old. Our roll is stable at around 230. Children come to the school from the Waipukurau Township and nearby country districts.

Children are educated in a supportive learning environment focussing on what they can do and what they need to learn next. Parents are encouraged to be involved with their child’s learning and we have a positive parent / teacher network.

There are many cultural and sporting opportunities at the school. Children can participate in Orchestra, Choir, School Production, Kapa Haka and Dance as well as other opportunities that arise from time to time in the school district. They can join a school team in Football, Hockey, Tennis, Cricket, Softball, Netball and Miniball. Rugby is catered for through the local Central Hawkes Bay Sports Club.
