Dear Parents and Caregivers

School Buses

Parents of children who travel to school by bus need to be aware that the last day that the bus service will be provided will be Tuesday, 13th December. The reason for this is that the contract for the buses is with the College and the number of days required by the contract will be up on this day. Parents will need to make arrangements to bring their children to school on the 14th, 15th and 16th December.

Orchestra Exchange

Last Wednesday, the Orchestra and Choir from Napier Central School visited us on our annual Orchestra Exchange. 70 students came from Napier Central and joined our orchestra of 76 to share in each others performance. Both orchestras played for each other and the Napier Central Choir sang. Both orchestras played a piece together which turned out to be very successful.

Napier Central Orchestra playing

Our Waipukurau School students provided a very good audience for the performances and appreciated the amount of practice that had gone into preparing for this event.

Mr Ian Hall, the principal at Napier Central thanked us for hosting his school orchestra and choir and presented our school with a book for our library as a token of their appreciation.

Our children were a great audience

Boys from Napier show their percussion skills

An interesting feature of the Napier performance was a group of boys who put on a percussion item. They had seen a show earlier in the year that had inspired them to put the item together. It was their first performance of their item and was well done.

Follow-up Hui

A reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, 8th December, there will be a follow-up hui for parents / caregivers of our Maori and Pasifika students. This meeting will be held at 5.30pm so that those who have other commitments can attend them. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Service Assembly

Our annual Service Assembly will be held in our School Hall on Tuesday, 13th December starting at 9.30am. Parents / caregivers are most welcome to attend this assembly at which certificates are presented for a wide range of school service activities. E.g. Orchestra, Road Patrol, Choir etc. The assembly will take about an hour.

Final Assembly

Our Final Assembly for the year will be held in the Central Hawkes Bay College Assembly Hall on Wednesday, 14th December, starting at 1.30pm. At this assembly students are acknowledged for their academic achievements and the Top Student for the year is named. The assembly takes about an hour.
