OUR   BOARD  OF  TRUSTEES

The Board of Trustees is responsible for seven key work areas in the school, which are:

The Board of Trustees is the body that is responsible for governing your school

Trustees do not fix the leaking roof - but they are responsible for seeing that it is done. Trustees do not teach the children - but they are responsible for ensuring that they are taught. Trustees may not necessarily personally spend the school’s money - but they approve the budget that determines how it will be spent.

Trustees must act on behalf of the community and they have a responsibility to consult with the community and to respond to the needs and wishes of their community.

Charter and Policies

The school has its own School Charter,  which is the foundation document for the school’s management and direction. Much of the Charter is common to all schools throughout the country, but there are sections which reflect the goals and aspirations of our own community and staff.

The Board of Trustees writes and regularly reviews policies which give clear direction on how the Charter is implemented within the school. These policies are the heart of the governance responsibility of the Board.

The Board delegates the responsibility of implementing these policies to the Principal and staff, and the principal oversees the day to day management of the school. Any person may ask at the office to see any school policy, and talk with the Principal or Board member about it.

Policies cover such things as financial management, school discipline, staff appointments, property maintenance, curriculum delivery, and so on.
