ORCHESTRA

At Waipukurau School we have a thriving school orchestra! Our orchestra boasts a large membership, typically ranging from 60 to 80 students. It's a truly impressive sight and a testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of our young musicians.

Students from Year 5 through to Year 8 have the opportunity to be involved, allowing for a diverse range of ages and skill levels to come together in harmony. Whether your child is just starting out on their musical journey or is already a seasoned performer, there's a place for them in our orchestra.

Throughout the year, our orchestra participates in small group lessons, taken by the teaching staff and in Term 3 the groups come together. Our school orchestra has the opportunity to perform both within our school community and beyond. These performances not only showcase the hard work and talent of our students but also provide valuable opportunities for them to develop their confidence and stage presence.

Our school orchestra has had the opportunity to collaborate with another Hawke's Bay School for the past few years. This is a highlight for the students as they can play within a larger orchestra and share what they have learned throughout the year with their peers.

We believe that participation in our school orchestra offers numerous benefits for our students, from fostering a lifelong love of music to developing teamwork and communication skills.
